1st Snow Day

Hello - I hope all you NZ'ers have survived the Artic Blast of the last week.  We (Timaru) were spared of any serious snow but finally today it has stopped raining and we have seen the sun although it is clouding over again now.  DH is suffering from 'Cabin Fever' lol so we may need an outing today.  It doesn't bother me as my Scrapbook room is as good as an outing. However I did not get to the scrap room until last night after starting the day scanning some photos for a relative for the Family Tree project and they wanted one of our wedding photos but unfortunately 1978 was not a good year for toner and our wedding album is gradually turning a dark brown colour.  While I was scanning I discovered a new button (colour restoration) and what a difference that makes - brings them back along with the memories lol.  While they are still not top notch (as they are being scanned from matt photos) they certainly look heaps better so I spent the day scanning the whole wedding album - how young everyone looked way back then!!!!

NZ Paper Chase Challenge on their FaceBook Group page this month is
June Challenge...Create a winter layout using the following quote as inspiration
“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
― John Steinbeck,
Well I had a play with some Authentique Papers and a Scrapfriends sketch and love the outcome.
Scrapfriends have a wonderful selection of sketches which are a slightly different style to my usual so nice to try something different.

The pattern on the paper worked well with the sketch design
Back to NZ Paper Chase challenge - Well I felt that Zac's first snow day on 28 May was an ideal topic as he loved the snow and got so excited and explored and tasted it.  These photos were certainly so sweet and the advertising strip on the Authentique paper also had a quote
"... Always bring your own sunshine" - Anthony J. D'Angelo
so that was also perfect for the inspirational quote.
Here is my take
I used bubble wrap and gesso randomly on the page.  Cut circles from another piece of Authentique paper and painted the edges with gesso.  The bright yellow alpha added the summer aspect to the page.
Dusty Attic chipboard snowflakes were painted first with gesso then bright blue luminare paint then finished with KindyGlitz.
I finished the snowflake clusters with dabs of liquid pearls to add dimension

and the little quote from the paper was just what the page needed and so true.

Thank you so much stopping by today.  Would love to know that you have been by leaving a comment.

Wishing you all a great week and if in NZ - Keep Warm!.

Until next time......
